I think we all know this but it's a good time to review the science. Sorry for the picture quality, this is a cell phone snap off of CNN. What it shows is even in those who will have symptoms there is a time when they can spread the virus before they feel sick (blue line). Add this to those who spread the virus without ever having symptoms and you get why this virus spreads so quickly.
While most who get infected recover, far too many don't. And then there are the "long haulers" who "recover" but have long term symptoms.
Please don't give into COVID fatigue. Even I have to resist it. Wear a mask, social distancing, wash your hands, get tested, stay home if exposed or sick. Be kind to each other both in interactions and respect for their safety.
Please wear a mask over both your face and nose. Be safe. Please be safe.
The following is the New Jersey Department of Health and Somerset County Health Department’s official response with regard to the situation at Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster Township.
The State Department of Health and the Somerset County Health Department continue to work together on a contact tracing investigation related to the events that took place in Bedminster Township on October 1, 2020 to determine potential risk of COVID-19 exposure.
New Jersey officials have been informed that the federal government is also conducting contact tracing investigations.
The County Health Department and the New Jersey Department of Health continue to recommend that people who attend large gatherings follow the below direction:
- If you are concerned that you were in close contact (within 6 feet for more than 10 minutes) with an individual who has tested positive, you should quarantine for 14 days. If you become symptomatic, contact your health care provider.
- Consider getting tested if you are concerned about possible exposure; if you wish to be tested, consider waiting at least 5-7 days from the October 1 event. While the risk is low, a negative test at that time cannot definitively rule out that COVID-19 will not develop.
- All attendees should self-monitor for symptoms for 14 days from the date of the event (i.e., self-monitor until October 15); if you become symptomatic, immediately isolate and contact your health care provider.
- Contact your health care provider if you are concerned about your health.
