A Tribute to Foday Mansaray

I just lost a friend to Covid.

Last night during the town hall meeting I mentioned a friend of mine was in the ICU. This morning I learned he died.

He was a community organizer who worked hard for his people. I talked with him every week for the last 6-7 years. He was always asking for something but never ever for himself, always for his community.

He was tireless in his work and had many many achievements. He was kind, a hard worker with boundless energy, funny, bright, had an infectious smile and always thinking about how else he could help. But most of all he was a friend who I cared about and who cared about me.

He will be missed on so many levels. As a family man, a pious man, a community leader and as a friend to everyone. I miss him and will never stop missing him.

Thank you for allowing me to share my personal grief. Many of you have lost someone to this. I knew of your pain, now I share it.

We have lost a great man. He cannot be replaced. We will get through this. He will be remembered.

His name is Foday Mansaray.
